Californo insulating board is the best insulator for your Pizza oven cooking surface. It is perfect for all Californo refractory cast ovens and all brick ovens. It is a high strength, high-efficiency Alumina Silicate board originally designed for industrial furnaces, Aluminum melting industry and used as well in NASA projects. One 2″ thick layer of Californo Board panel reduces the 818ºF cooking surface of a pizza oven to roughly 160º F at equilibrium, making it roughly twice as efficient as pure Vermiculite board, and even more efficient than castable Vermiculite and Portland cement mixes.
